About the position

This position provides essential administrative support to the Office of Professional Development, focusing on enhancing student career and professional development. The role involves maintaining a comprehensive database of professional development activities, which is crucial for tracking and evaluating the effectiveness of various programs through surveys. The individual will work closely with the Associate Dean of Professional Development to plan and implement workshops and special events, such as the White Coat Ceremony and Graduate Student Appreciation Week, aimed at facilitating student engagement and growth in their professional journeys. In addition to event planning, the position requires assistance in preparing grant proposals. This includes conducting thorough research, gathering both internal and external data, and developing templates that will be utilized in student proposals and institutional grants. The role also encompasses managing the calendar and communication related to professional development activities, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and engaged. The position involves handling travel arrangements for outside visitors, which includes purchasing airline tickets, reserving hotels, processing registrations, completing travel authorization and expense forms, and ensuring timely reimbursement. A critical aspect of this role is identifying students who may need additional support and providing them with sustained, individualized coaching that is developmentally appropriate, focusing on their social, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Furthermore, the individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining an alumni contact list, drafting correspondence to both internal and external program stakeholders, and preparing statistical reports. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively while meeting deadlines. The ideal candidate will possess a positive, mission-oriented attitude and a strong commitment to student success and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a database of professional development activities for tracking and evaluation through surveys.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience administering training and professional development programs.
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in student services database software and online resources.
  • Proficiency with Google suite of products, MS Office, and publishing software.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and retention.
  • Experience with student information systems and databases.
  • Evidence of expertise in written, spoken, and/or visual communication.

Nice-to-haves
