About the position

The Program Manager at the University of Missouri's Financial Research Institute (FRI) is responsible for planning and executing externally focused programs, including symposiums and executive education related to public utilities. This role involves managing logistics, vendor negotiations, travel arrangements, and communications with stakeholders, while ensuring that program goals are met within budget and established priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement deadline-driven project plans for FRI programs and events.
  • Coordinate support functions to ensure program goals are accomplished according to specifications.
  • Identify and negotiate with vendors and venues to meet quality standards within budget.
  • Analyze information and conduct industry research to support strategic goals and promote FRI Advisory Board retention.
  • Build strong professional relationships with FRI Advisory Board Members and constituents.
  • Hire and manage work-study students and special event staff.
  • Collect donor gifts and event registration fees.
  • Travel to attend industry-related events to enhance FRI visibility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience coordinating special events is strongly desired.
  • Two years of B2B sales, relationship management, fundraising, and marketing experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities with high attention to detail.
  • Capability to work effectively with high-net-worth business leaders and public officials.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft and Adobe Creative Suite is strongly desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with various social media platforms (e.g., X, LinkedIn, Facebook) and managing a professional social media presence.
