About the position

The Program Manager at Stanford University's Hoover Institution is responsible for administering, supporting, and managing various programs within the Institutional Programming team. This role requires strong organizational skills and the ability to foster collaboration across departments and with external partners. The Program Manager will oversee the Veteran Fellowship Program and other initiatives, ensuring alignment with Hoover's mission and research priorities. The position is hybrid, allowing for both on-site and remote work, and emphasizes a results-oriented approach to program management.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and administer research activities by evaluating academic programs and making recommendations that impact policies and programs.
  • Collect and analyze data, create reports, and review trends to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions to achieve program goals.
  • Teach and assist in the teaching and administration of courses; advise in the development of curriculum and recommend course improvements.
  • Write and edit content for proposals, peer-reviewed publications, and other program activities; assist with the development of research grants.
  • Represent the program as the key contact and subject matter expert; develop communications for internal and external constituencies.
  • Organize and participate in outreach activities such as events, partnerships, fundraising, training, and conferences; lead workshops and facilitate meetings.
  • Monitor expenses, budgets, and finances of the program; make recommendations on funding based on program spend.
  • May oversee and train student workers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to take initiative and ownership of projects.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant subject matter knowledge.
