About the position

The Program Manager for Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action (SVYCA) is responsible for overseeing grant-funded programs aimed at youth-led climate initiatives. This role involves collaborating with the Executive Director to design impactful programs, mentoring students, and engaging with community stakeholders to enhance climate education and advocacy efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of grant-funded programs, ensuring they meet program objectives and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to design and implement SVYCA's youth-led climate action programs.
  • Work closely with student action teams to plan and execute impactful projects focused on climate education, advocacy, and community engagement.
  • Develop clear program objectives, timelines, and outcomes in collaboration with student leaders.
  • Monitor and evaluate program progress to ensure effectiveness, and adjust strategies as needed.
  • Provide direct mentorship to students, guiding them through project planning, execution, and leadership development.
  • Facilitate leadership workshops, training sessions, and skills development activities for youth, focusing on climate action and advocacy.
  • Foster a supportive environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students.
  • Assist student leaders in identifying opportunities for public speaking, climate advocacy, and community impact.
  • Support the Executive Director in partnership development with community stakeholders to create collaborative opportunities that support youth-led climate initiatives.
  • Build relationships with local schools, community organizations, and climate partners to expand SVYCA's reach and program impact.
  • Work with external partners to provide resources, training, and opportunities for students to deepen their understanding of climate issues.

Requirements

  • 5 years of program management experience
  • PMP certification
  • 3 years of youth mentoring experience
  • 3 years of community organizing experience
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Budgeting experience
  • Leadership skills
