About the position

The Senior Manager position within the Taxpayer Services Division at the IRS involves overseeing the planning, directing, and execution of various programs and organizational units. This role requires strong managerial skills to develop and implement policies, manage budgets, and ensure the achievement of program objectives. The position is permanent and full-time, with occasional travel requirements and eligibility for telework as determined by agency policy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall planning, directing, and execution of programs and organizational units.
• Approve multi-year work plans developed by subordinate managers and oversee their implementation.
• Manage the development of policy changes in response to legislative changes or budget adjustments.
• Exercise discretionary authority over budget allocation and distribution of funds.
• Revise long-range plans, goals, and objectives for the work directed.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience at a level equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal service, demonstrating required managerial skills and technical competence.
• Experience in management/leadership roles, applying management techniques and principles to achieve program objectives.
• Experience in project/program management, team leadership, or as a technical advisor with oversight responsibilities.
• Ability to apply regulations and official guidance to oversee program planning and implementation.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external customers.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a federal agency or similar public sector role.
• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
