About the position

The Program Manager at Mercy House is responsible for overseeing the Emergency Shelter Program, ensuring that all activities and services are executed effectively and in alignment with best practices. This role emphasizes a guest-centered and housing-focused approach, requiring strong organizational and communication skills. The Program Manager will supervise support staff, manage program development, and foster community relations while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for guests.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all day-to-day activities and program services for the Emergency Shelter Program.
• Execute national best practices ensuring a guest-centered and housing-focused approach.
• Oversee Guest Services and ensure trauma-informed delivery.
• Coordinate with Case Management, Outreach, and Leasing agents to ensure a housing-focused operation.
• Encourage and discuss progress toward housing with shelter guests.
• Manage program budget and facilitate Resident Advisory Council and Partnership Meetings.
• Maintain active involvement with community service organizations and program partners.
• Provide oversight and lead by example for Site Leaders, Intake Specialists, Overnight Coordinators, and Logistics Team.
• Assist in onboarding new direct reports and coordinate ongoing training.
• Conduct performance reviews for staff.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 2 years of direct life experience working with long-term homeless, low income, and diverse populations.
• Working knowledge of mental health and addictions issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform crisis intervention as needed.
• CA driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

• Fluency in Spanish is highly valued.
• Experience in program management and community outreach.
