About the position

Responsibilities

  • Define business goals and develop work plans with short and long-term priorities.
  • Direct, coordinate, and oversee work plans through subordinate managers and supervisors.
  • Assign work based on priorities and employee capabilities.
  • Evaluate program implementation and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to subordinates on administrative and technical problems.
  • Manage relationships with functional executives and other agency officials.
  • Develop performance standards and evaluate work performance of subordinate supervisors and managers.
  • Serve as the reviewing official on evaluations and performance recognition or disciplinary actions.
  • Manage and resolve group grievances and employee complaints.
  • Make decisions on routine and non-routine personnel-related actions.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to subordinate managers and employees.
  • Initiate ways to improve departmental efficiency and quality of work.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level in the Federal Service.
  • Experience applying management techniques and principles for optimal resource utilization.
  • Experience in compliance programs and staff hour planning methods.
  • Experience with work systems affecting workflow, production, and quality.
  • Experience in budget and fiscal methods for maintaining an organization.
  • Experience applying communication techniques for effective interaction with customers.
  • Experience applying regulations and guidance for program planning and implementation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a federal agency environment.
