About the position

The Program Monitor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing research, analysis, and policy management activities related to statewide health or social service programs within the Louisiana Department of Health's Office of Public Health. This role involves supervising day-to-day operations, managing contracts, coordinating responses to emerging diseases, and providing programmatic direction to staff. The position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while promoting effective public health services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise all procurement needs of the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Section, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in contract management.
  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day operations of critical public health services and associated business processes.
  • Serve as the primary contact for complex coordination between the IDEpi Section and various stakeholders for emerging infectious disease response efforts.
  • Oversee office operations, including inventory control, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance, while resolving administrative support issues.
  • Provide programmatic direction and direct supervision to lower-level staff, conducting performance evaluations and planning.
  • Assist in compiling grants' program area work plans, progress reports, and performance indicators for timely submissions.
  • Attend in-service trainings and perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree plus three years of professional level experience in relevant fields such as public health, social services, or health services.
  • Substitutions available for candidates without a degree, including a combination of work experience and college credit.
  • Graduate training in relevant fields can substitute for required experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public health epidemiology or infectious disease management.
  • Familiarity with state contracting processes and compliance requirements.
