About the position

The Program Officer for the Young Adults Forward Fund at the California Community Foundation will serve as the relationship lead for a portfolio of grantees, focusing on collective outcomes, grantmaking, capacity building, project management, donor relations, and community engagement. This role is pivotal in implementing the fund's mission and strategic objectives, managing grant processes, and fostering partnerships to achieve shared goals.

Responsibilities

  • Implement mission, vision, and strategic objectives aligned with the fund's compass.
  • Track progress towards strategic objectives and design new objectives as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Communicate results to multiple audiences and spur collective action towards common objectives.
  • Manage strategic grantmaking, relationships, and projects related to a common set of outcomes and budget.
  • Oversee executed grants and maintain ongoing relationships with partners.
  • Evaluate portfolio investments and initiative outcomes to guide and advance related goals.
  • Ensure grants are strategically aligned to achieve maximum impact towards shared outcomes.
  • Conduct due diligence of organizations including review and analysis of grant proposals and financial information.
  • Produce grant agreement data, review progress reports, and maintain ongoing communications with grantees.
  • Work with grant partners to report results using effective outcome measures.
  • Prepare and present written and oral analyses of grant requests and portfolio reports.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with grantees, foundation partners, and various constituency groups.
  • Represent CCF at special events and on relevant committees, commissions, and boards.
  • Conduct, propose, and monitor research related to fund's interests.
  • Design, manage, and facilitate special projects for CCF.
  • Strategically convene stakeholders to develop and accomplish a shared agenda.
  • Integrate the expertise and resources of CCF's departments into the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a related field.
  • Master's level degree in a field related to the primary funding areas of the foundation is preferred.
  • At least five years of demonstrated content expertise in program design and implementation, grantmaking, and/or management experience.
  • Minimum of three years working in the nonprofit, public, and/or philanthropic sector required.
  • Experience in managing consultants and project working teams to achieve results is essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to set vision and manage partners strategically towards it.
  • Excellent writing, math, and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of the Los Angeles County nonprofit community.
  • Familiarity with the geography and diverse neighborhoods throughout the region.
  • Experience in working effectively with diverse and broad-based community constituencies.
