About the position

As a Program & Scheduling Principal at Virgin Galactic, you will play a pivotal role in the development of our Delta class of Spaceships. This position is integral to our team environment, which includes program management, technical, production, financial, and other supporting staff. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the schedule using Primavera P6, our main scheduling tool, while also guiding other team members in maximizing its effectiveness. You will ensure that major projects and programs' Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) are well-coordinated across various functional groups, including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality. In this role, you will utilize various project management techniques such as Gantt charts, PERT, milestone charts, and earned value management to monitor progress and identify performance variances. This will enable you to focus on critical areas that require intervention. You will engage with the Program Team to conduct thorough project analyses, demonstrating your understanding of the program and the principles of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS). You will also be responsible for performing risk analyses and resolving critical path and network logic conflicts. Your expertise will contribute to the development of new scheduling concepts, techniques, and standards. You will provide support to the program office, Integrated Product Team (IPT) leads, and less experienced schedulers to help achieve program objectives. Additionally, you will support new business proposals by recommending schedule methodologies and developing Integrated Master Plans (IMP) and IMS.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure major Projects and Programs Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) are horizontally and vertically integrated across company functional groups including finance, engineering, material, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Utilize Gantt, PERT, milestone charts, earned value management and other project management techniques to gauge progress and identify performance variances.
  • Engage with the Program Team to perform thorough project analysis and suggest/implement workarounds to enhance cost and schedule performance.
  • Perform risk analyses and identify and resolve critical path and network logic conflicts.
  • Contribute to the development of new scheduling concepts, techniques, and standards.
  • Provide interface/support to program office, IPT leads/CAMs and less experienced schedulers to achieve program objectives.
  • Support new business proposal providing recommendations on schedule methodologies and proposal strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 10 or more years' related professional experience.
  • Demonstrated scheduling experience and expert proficiency in Primavera P6 or other related scheduling tools.
  • Understanding of the tool's properties and functions, including exports and imports, multi-project consolidation, inter-project linkage, and ability to create a variety of views, tables, filters, and reports.
  • Experience with Schedule Health Analysis tools and Schedule Risk Assessment tools.
