About the position

Randstad Digital is seeking a skilled Project/Program Manager with extensive experience in the Transportation sector. This role involves implementing a comprehensive package that includes Transportation Management Systems (TMS), managing Domestic and Import Freight, overseeing Financials, and facilitating New Partner Onboarding along with associated integrations. The position is a contract role based in Deerfield, Illinois, and is ideal for candidates who are ready to join a leader in the Retail and Technology space. The Project/Program Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities in various fields such as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming. The main function of the IT project/program manager is to ensure that all project plans are reviewed and coordinated effectively. This includes managing backup systems, security protocols, and user help systems. The manager will consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements. Regular meetings with department heads, managers, supervisors, and vendors will be necessary to solicit cooperation and resolve any arising problems. Additionally, the role requires providing technical support to users for any computer-related issues. The Project/Program Manager will also be involved in staffing decisions, including recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising staff. Evaluating data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements is another critical responsibility. The manager will develop and interpret organizational goals, policies, and procedures while ensuring the development of computer information resources that provide data security, strategic computing, and disaster recovery plans.

Responsibilities

  • Review project plans to plan and coordinate project activity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required.
  • 8-10 years of experience required in project/program management, particularly in transportation and logistics.
  • PMI or PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage one's time effectively.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
  • Strong knowledge of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
  • Strong knowledge of computer software, such as Visual Basic, Java, SQL, etc.
