About the position

This position is located in the Office of Appellate Support, Human Resources Liaison Office at the Board of Veterans' Appeals, Washington, D.C. This position is primarily responsible for serving as a Human Resources (HR) Liaison between the Board and the Human Resources Service Center (HRSC) regarding any HR-related matters, to include recruitment and placement, classification, performance management, employee and labor relations, and benefits for Board staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Conveys advice and provides assistance to supervisors and employees regarding the full range of HR issues as provided through consultation with HRSC.
  • Assists with developing job analysis, rating guides, selective factors, etc., for a wide variety of positions.
  • Reviews actions related to research on recruitment sources and establishes and maintains contacts with professional societies, colleagues, universities, etc.
  • Arranges promotion panels and oversees panel member evaluation for determining best qualified candidate list.
  • Schedules interviews for hiring managers.
  • Conducts Performance Management.
  • Assists managers and supervisors with developing a wide array of position descriptions.
  • Serves as the internal BVA point of contact for benefits related items and follows up with HRSC as needed to ensure appropriate action was/is taken.
  • Works with classification staff to review position descriptions and make any necessary changes.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Required to sign a Pathways Program Participant Agreement and serve a one-year trial period.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
  • To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement: 12/31/2024.
  • Recent Graduates must have obtained a qualifying degree or certificate from a recognized institution within the previous two years.
