About the position

The Program Specialist for Site Based Facilitated (Sports Buddies) at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Middle Tennessee is responsible for connecting children with positive adult mentors through a structured mentoring program. This role focuses on enrolling, introducing, and supporting matches in the Sports Buddies program, which emphasizes one-to-one mentoring relationships through sports activities. The specialist will also assist with the E-Mentoring program, ensuring quality program delivery and a positive experience for all participants.

Responsibilities

  • Enroll, introduce, and support a caseload of matches in the Sports Buddies program.
  • Conduct initial and update interviews of children and volunteers for program participation.
  • Make matching decisions to foster strong mentor/mentee relationships.
  • Maintain an active match support caseload, assessing match relationships and addressing issues promptly.
  • Assist with facilitation of Parent and Volunteer Orientations as needed.
  • Ensure child safety and risk management throughout all job functions.
  • Attend and facilitate weekly activities for matches, engaging with mentors and mentees.
  • Collaborate with other service delivery staff for smooth transitions among functions.
  • Maintain documentation for accountability and effectiveness.
  • Participate in required trainings and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant youth-serving experience, especially with youth of color or marginalized communities.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable automobile.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of child development and family dynamics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.

  • Bilingual skills are encouraged.
  • Interest and experience in sports.
  • Experience in time management.
