About the position

The Program Specialist (PACS Administrator) will oversee Imaging Services at the Olin E. Teague VA Medical Center in Temple, TX. This role involves analyzing and resolving issues related to digital imaging systems, providing training and support to staff, and ensuring compatibility of PACS with VistA. The incumbent will also develop methods to evaluate and maintain digital image systems, ensuring efficient and timely fulfillment of responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze problems related to digital imaging systems.
  • Collect relevant information from various sources and apply standard analytical techniques.
  • Develop recommendations and proposals, monitoring the status and progress of work.
  • Instruct assigned employees in PACS, VR, and technical computer-related tasks.
  • Perform Vista Radiology, PACS, NMIS, and voice recognition support activities.
  • Coordinate support functions throughout the CTVHCS.
  • Train PACS team members and other employees in Imaging Service.
  • Maintain current knowledge and provide expert advice on procedures and policies.
  • Ensure compatibility of PACS with VistA and/or the VistA Imaging Package.
  • Develop methods and programs to evaluate, monitor, and maintain digital image systems.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-11 level in the Federal service.
  • Experience in researching and analyzing problems supporting digital imaging.
  • Ability to collect data and apply standard analytical techniques.
  • Experience in developing and presenting recommendations to leadership.
  • Ability to prepare user instruction and education manuals.
  • Experience in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Experience in maintaining user accounts and profiles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with database administration.
  • Knowledge of information management and network management.
  • Technical competence in operating systems and technology application.
