About the position

The Program Supervisor VI position at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Medicaid CHIP Services (MCS) division is a critical role focused on providing consultative and technical assistance for the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Program Eligibility and Support (IDD PES) unit. The position emphasizes teamwork, high professional standards, and personal accountability, contributing significantly to the mission of delivering quality services to Texans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The supervisor will oversee unit functions, ensuring eligible Texans are enrolled in various support programs, and will manage a team of Program Specialists to meet program deliverables effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily workflow for unit staff and coordinate unit activities to ensure program deliverables occur within prescribed timeframes.
  • Select, supervise, and evaluate the performance of 8 Program Specialists.
  • Provide appropriate interpretation of policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and standards to unit staff and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct routine monitoring and analysis of unit deliverables related to HCS and TxHmL activities.
  • Provide highly complex consultative and technical assistance to management and program staff.
  • Maintain repositories of process outcomes and produce scheduled written summations of that information.
  • Develop, provide, and coordinate training on unit activity.
  • Testify in scheduled fair hearings regarding denial or termination of program enrollment.

Requirements

  • Valid QIDP Certification license required.
  • Experience in supervising or managing staff with an operational function.
  • Experience coordinating, gathering, and sharing information with management and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of intellectual disability and developmental disability related conditions, HCS, TxHmL, CLASS, CFC, and ICF/ID program rules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze information to devise solutions to problems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in supervising or management within Health and Human Services (HHS) preferred.
  • Experience working in the Long Term Care Online Portal (LTCOP) preferred.
