About the position

The Program Support Assistant (OA) at the Department of Veterans Affairs Central Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Safety and Industrial Hygiene programs. This role involves managing various administrative processes, ensuring compliance with policies, and acting as the primary point of contact for the section. The assistant will utilize specialized knowledge to coordinate, collect, and validate data, maintain accurate records, and support the operational needs of the Safety staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Safety and Industrial Hygiene programs.
  • Coordinate, collect, and validate data for comprehensive functions.
  • Develop and implement programs in accordance with VHA and HCS policy.
  • Maintain accurate timekeeping records for Safety staff.
  • Take minutes for various committees and meetings.
  • Function as the Primary ADPAC for the section, supporting computer practices.
  • Monitor and order office and operating supplies to maintain inventory.
  • Schedule appointments, meetings, and conferences, making all necessary arrangements.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this job.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must be able to serve a probationary period if required.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Experience equivalent to GS-06 level in the federal service is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in administrative duties within a healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with Safety and Industrial Hygiene policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using various software applications for administrative tasks.
