About the position

The Program Systems Analyst at Kadiak, LLC, a subsidiary of Koniag Government Services, is responsible for supporting the efficient operation and maintenance of critical databases and systems for government clients in the Metro DC area. This role involves troubleshooting system malfunctions, executing database requests, and providing technical assistance to Quality Assurance Specialists and other stakeholders. The position requires the ability to obtain a Public Trust and is intended for a future new business opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to database requests from authorized personnel, such as the FDA or QAS staff, and execute necessary queries, reports, or data extractions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor the performance and functionality of databases and related systems, identifying and resolving any issues, malfunctions, or crashes to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to QAS staff during their period of performance, assisting them with database-related tasks, queries, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain and update databases, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with established protocols and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, database administrators, and other stakeholders to implement system enhancements, upgrades, or migrations as required.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including user manuals, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to database operations and maintenance.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate users on database functionalities, query languages, and best practices for data management and retrieval.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technologies, tools, and industry standards related to database management, data security, and system administration.
  • Analyze system performance metrics and user feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement optimization strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in database management, system administration, or a related role in an IT environment.
  • Proven expertise in working with relational database management systems (RDBMS), such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with data querying languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL) and reporting tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of database management principles, including data modeling, normalization, and query optimization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues and database errors.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation tools for system administration tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document procedures and provide technical guidance to users.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a government or regulated environment, with knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance requirements related to data management and security.
  • Familiarity with database performance tuning techniques and tools.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies for critical databases and systems.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and business intelligence concepts.
