About the position

5-D Systems, a KRATOS Company, is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as a Program Systems Engineering Product Owner in support of our customer located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is critical in addressing Army Air and Missile Defense systems, with a specific focus on Mission Command systems. The Product Owner will collaborate with contractors, government civilians, and system operators to ensure the successful development and implementation of software solutions that meet the needs of the intended users. In this position, the Product Owner will be responsible for developing feature documentation, creating MEI and CSCI behavior models, and establishing acceptance criteria to guide software implementation. The role requires reporting on project status, identifying risks and blockers, and assessing team capacity to program management. An MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) approach will be utilized to document features within an Agile workflow, ensuring that the development process is efficient and aligned with project goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in systems engineering principles and a proven record of taking initiative in a collaborative team environment. This position is not only about technical expertise but also about engaging with various stakeholders to ensure that the software developed is capable of meeting operational requirements. Candidates must be comfortable working in an Agile environment and possess the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders at all levels. This role is essential for the success of the IFMC AMD Mission Command Product Office and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical defense systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Program Systems Engineering Product Owner for the IFMC AMD Mission Command Product Office.
  • Develop feature documentation and acceptance criteria for software implementation.
  • Create MEI and CSCI behavior models to guide development efforts.
  • Report on project status, risks, blockers, and team capacity to program management.
  • Utilize an MBSE approach to document features using Agile workflows.
  • Engage with contractors, government civilians, and system operators to ensure software meets user needs.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to acquire or maintain a US Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field is required.
  • 10 or more years of systems engineering experience is required.
  • Experience in tactical command and control systems, tactical weapons systems, or tactical sensor systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with software, hardware, requirements decomposition, or MBSE tools and languages is necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and a technical background in systems engineering principles are essential.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and engaging with various stakeholders is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Systems engineering experience in support of DoD programs, especially in Army Air and Missile Defense programs.
  • Hands-on experience creating models in Cameo or MagicDraw using SysML and UAF is desired.
  • Experience using Atlassian tools such as Jira and Confluence is a plus.
  • SAFe© Agile experience is beneficial.
