About the position

The Program Trainer at Upbring is responsible for the development, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of training programs for the Residential Treatment Center. This role focuses on enhancing the skills of staff members to ensure compliance with agency standards and improve the quality of care provided to youth. The Program Trainer embodies the organization's core values of being warriors, servants, and family, and plays a crucial role in breaking the cycle of child abuse through effective training and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional training for new and existing employees on various topics including Crisis Intervention, De-escalation, Safety and Emergency education, and Behavior Management.
  • Develop, administer, and evaluate pre-and-posttests to validate competencies and ensure learning occurred.
  • Assess employee skill set and knowledge through observations and devise plans for increasing skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct ongoing unit observations to monitor employee application of skills and identify training needs.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide updates on training needs and reinforce previous training.
  • Develop and facilitate ad hoc training as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed trainings and provide timely documentation of training issues.
  • Assist Human Resources with new hire orientation and onboarding, and follow up with new employees.
  • Work closely with program leadership to develop and execute program goals, including becoming a zero-restraint facility.
  • Provide ongoing training to improve teamwork and communication among staff.
  • Conduct Emergency Management Drills and coordinate with Facilities Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in training and development, Organizational Development, Social Work, or closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify internal issues and find solutions.
  • Strong working knowledge of the ADDIE model.
  • Ability to motivate learners and adapt training techniques to various groups.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to evaluate training effectiveness and gather empirical data for analysis.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Training and Development, or related field.
  • Meet Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) train-the-trainer requirements within the first year of employment.
