About the position

The Kern Community College District is seeking applications for the position of a part-time, hourly adjunct instructor for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). This position is part of an adjunct pool for the 2021-2022 academic years, and applicants will remain active for up to two years. The starting salary for this role is $60.00 per hour, with potential variations based on the specific assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and related Electronics classes.
• Develop curriculum for courses, including those delivered via different modalities.
• Assess student learning outcomes and maintain subject matter currency.
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
• Work effectively with a diverse student population and support their academic and vocational goals.
• Communicate effectively with students and colleagues, both orally and in writing.

Requirements

• Possession of a valid credential authorizing the full-time teaching of PLC or related Electronics classes at the California Community College level.
• Bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience in PLC/Electronics, or an Associate degree with six years of professional experience in PLC/Electronics.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that benefit the program.
