About the position

The Kern Community College District is seeking applications for the position of a part-time, hourly adjunct instructor for Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC). The instructor will also participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local educational institutions, fostering partnerships that benefit students and the community. This position is part of an adjunct pool for the 2021-2022 academic years, and applicants will remain active for up to two years. The starting salary for this role is $60.00 per hour, with potential variations based on the specific assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula. Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and related Electronics classes.
  • Develop curriculum for courses, including those delivered via different modalities.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and maintain subject matter currency.
  • Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Work effectively with a diverse student population and support their academic and vocational goals.
  • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues, both orally and in writing.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid credential authorizing the full-time teaching of PLC or related Electronics classes at the California Community College level.
  • Bachelor's degree with two years of professional experience in PLC/Electronics, or an Associate degree with six years of professional experience in PLC/Electronics.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that benefit the program.
