About the position

The FrontEnd Developer position supports the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Development and Maintenance programs. The role focuses on collaborating with development project teams, UI/UX designers, and business analysts to create and maintain reusable UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust. The developer is expected to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 and ADA standards while testing for accessibility using tools like Jaws reader and various browser plugins.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with development project teams, UI/UX designers, and business analysts.
• Develop and maintain reusable UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust.
• Ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 and ADA standards.
• Test development for accessibility using Jaws reader and browser plugins.

Requirements

• Strong background with React.js (5 years required).
• Experience with HTML5 and CSS Frameworks (5 years required).
• Strong knowledge of ADA, WCAG 2.1, Section 508 compliance policies, and User Experience design principles (5 years required).
• Experience with current JAVA and relevant IDE tools such as Eclipse/Jboss Developer Studio (3 years required).
• Experience programming in projects using JPA framework (2 years required).
• Experience programming in projects using current Spring framework (2 years required).
• Experience programming with Spring Boot and Spring Data (2 years required).
• Experience programming with Java 8+ (3 years required).
• Experience participating as a programmer within an Agile development environment (2 years required).

Nice-to-haves

• Experience programming in the JBOSS Enterprise environment (2 years desired).
