About The Position

The Programmer/Analyst position at SUNY Old Westbury is an entry-level role within the Department of Information Technology Services (ITS). The primary responsibility of this position is to design, develop, test, and document computer information systems that support Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System programs. This full-time role requires an on-campus presence and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work schedules.

Requirements

• An Associate's degree and three (3) years programming experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science and one (1) year programming experience.
• Course or work experience with two of the following: SQL, PL/SQL, JAVA, Java Script, HTML5, CSS, PERL or ORACLE.

Nice To Haves

• Course or work experience with shell scripting languages (e.g., Linux, Unix, PERL or equivalent).
• Knowledge of, or experience working with Ellucian Banner or any other ERP system.
• Ability to effectively communicate with both end users and technical personnel within IT as well as with external vendors.
• Experience working in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify and document application programs.
• Review and analyze user specifications in the writing of programming code.
• Verify program logic by preparing test data and performing trial runs.
• Determine causes of program malfunctions.
• Provide technical assistance, training and advice to staff and users.
• Responsible for the application system interfaces to various ancillary software including data integration and synchronization between systems.
• Analyze user data requests and develop queries, create reports, data extracts, etc., utilizing various reporting tools.
