About the position

The Programmer II position at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona involves performing programming and maintenance on various systems based on customer business requirements. This role may also include SCRUM development responsibilities and requires a hybrid work arrangement within the state of Arizona. The position is designed for individuals with a background in computer/information technology and programming, aiming to contribute to the company's mission of inspiring health and making it easy for customers to access health insurance products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop basic-level systems and programs with assistance from senior programmers.
  • Participate in the development, review, and creation of documentation for associated systems.
  • Design and code basic-level systems, programs, and interfaces using structured programming techniques.
  • Develop and maintain databases, creating logic, system, and program flows.
  • Write and execute unit test plans and track processing issues.
  • Participate in small to medium projects and create ad-hoc reports for customers.
  • Research and respond to internal customer inquiries and finalize requests for research.
  • Review code and systems for proper design standards and functionality.
  • Assist in developing and delivering presentations to staff and management.
  • Analyze files and map data from one system to another.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED in a general field of study.
  • 1 year of experience in computer/information technology for Level 1, 3 years for Level 2, 5 years for Level 3, and 7 years for Level 4.
  • 1 year of experience in programming, query design, and database development for Level 2, 3 years for Level 3, and 4 years for Level 4.
  • 1 year of experience in project management for Level 3, 3 years for Level 4.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer technology, business, or a related field.
  • Technical certifications in programming languages.
  • Experience in programming, query design, and database development at higher levels.
  • Supervisory experience at Level 4.
