About the position

GovCIO is seeking a remote Programmer IV who will be responsible for developing, modifying, and maintaining software programs according to detailed specifications. The role involves recognizing interactions between various programs, solving conventional programming problems, and monitoring program operations. The Programmer IV will also be involved in testing, documenting work, and providing support to lower-level programmers while working independently under specified objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and maintain assigned programs according to approved requirements and specifications.
• Monitor the operation of assigned programs and diagnose and correct errors in logic and coding.
• Implement and maintain portions of scientific programming projects, applying established techniques to solve defined problems.
• Test and document work, writing and maintaining operator instructions for assigned programs.
• Analyze current program performance and take corrective actions based on user discussions and supervisor consultations.
• Assist in reviewing and analyzing detailed program specifications and program design to accommodate changes in work processes.
• Guide or instruct lower-level programmers and supervise technicians in specific assignments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of programming experience or equivalent experience.
• Ability to maintain a public trust clearance.
