About the position

The Programmer/SQL Developer role involves collaborating with IT and business managers to utilize SQL and programming skills for analyzing and presenting key business information. The position focuses on developing IT systems that address business needs, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting various IT and business initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on development of systems combining information from various sources to meet strategic business needs.
• Work with IT and business managers to understand business issues and build systems to provide key information.
• Ongoing attention to detail to verify accuracy of systems, cross-validate findings, and improve reliability and completeness.
• Support other IT and business initiatives as required.

Requirements

• SQL skills, including sub-selects, joins, aggregation, normalization principles, and indexing strategies.
• Ability to program in PHP, Perl, JavaScript, React, and HTML or other languages with complex SQL statements.
• Understanding of business measures (sales, pricing, inventory, distribution, CRM systems) and related mathematics.
• Ability to understand data interdependencies across diverse information systems and translate data into database tables for analysis.
• Ability to write programs clearly and efficiently, and read and modify programs written by others.
• Ability to find innovative solutions to speed issues for efficient data queries.
• Familiarity with Business Intelligence and ETL techniques is a plus.
• Effective communication skills with IT and business managers.
• Hands-on knowledge of Unix/Linux.
• Openness to learn new programming languages as needed.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with MariaDB/MySQL and window functions.
• Familiarity with Business Intelligence and ETL techniques.
