About the position

The Project Accountant II at Moss is responsible for managing financial aspects of construction projects, including reviewing contracts, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies. This role involves close collaboration with project management and accounts payable teams to facilitate timely payments and accurate financial reporting, while also identifying potential risks and profitability issues.

Responsibilities

  • Review owner contracts, addendums, and exhibits for financial/risk compliance tracking.
  • Interpret and understand owner's contract requirements related to project finances.
  • Review PCI's prior to posting within CMiC for accuracy, including correct PCI type usage.
  • Maintain Notice to Owner Log in established enterprise software.
  • Review, verify coding, and approve invoices processed for assigned projects.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to ensure compliance for timely vendor payments.
  • Enter budgets for new or added phases of projects.
  • Manage subcontractor billings, tracking, and payments through Textura, collaborating with Project Management for approvals.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly submittals to clients.
  • Assist with the collection of accounts receivable as requested for the project.
  • Monitor and manage all accounts created for the project.
  • Prepare documentation for subcontractor check releases and lien claims.
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll timesheet entries for job sites.
  • Prepare and submit timely owner billing reconciliations to job cost.
  • Assist Project Manager with accounting reports and reconcile job cost details for forecasting.
  • Monitor the sub-guard program with the risk department to validate contract values and enrolled subs.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager and CCIP Coordinator to manage insurance programs on the project.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are compliant in conjunction with EBIX and project team.
  • Be flexible to travel as needed and work on-site at corporate office or project locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred).
  • 3-5 years minimum of work experience in project accounting with a General Contractor.
  • Efficient and proficient in Microsoft Office products (e.g., V-Lookups, Tables).
  • Ability to take initiative, be a team player, and think independently.
  • Proficient working knowledge of cost analysis.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
