About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of various projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting, reporting, invoicing, and collections. This role requires a blend of accounting expertise and project management skills to support the successful delivery of projects within budget and financial constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Track and report on financial performance and project costs.
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and analysis to project managers and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and management of project budgets.
  • Perform variance analysis and update forecasts based on project changes and developments.
  • Oversee the invoicing process, ensuring timely and accurate billing of clients.
  • Manage accounts receivable for project-related transactions.
  • Manage the collections process for project-related receivables.
  • Maintain thorough records of all financial transactions related to projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand financial requirements and constraints.
  • Conduct regular reconciliations of project accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and systems related to project accounting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of proven experience as a Project Accountant or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and practices is advantageous.
