About the position

The Project Accountant plays a crucial role in the accounting department, responsible for managing the project billing process, including project setup, invoice processing, and job maintenance. This position reports directly to the Controller and is integral to ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and communication with project managers. Responsibilities

• Process and review draws for multiple projects.
• Communicate with project managers, vendors, and external parties regarding draw requests/requirements.
• Assist in the development/enhancement of project reporting.
• Perform general accounting duties including accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, and internal job auditing.
• Ensure timely invoice processing.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on billing verification.
• Process accounts payable from invoice to payment, including coding invoices and obtaining Project Manager approvals.
• Maintain lien waivers and verify subcontractor insurance.
• Track job costs and maintain project filing systems.
• Create and close out project accounts in the accounting system.
• Investigate and report project variances.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred.
• Minimum of three years of full cycle accounting experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently and exercise discretion.
