About the position
The Project Accountant at Willdan Performance Engineering plays a crucial role in managing all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes within the organization. This position requires a strong background in engineering and construction accounting, particularly with AIA progress billing and open book accounting. The Project Accountant will act as a liaison between the local office and the Division Finance Manager, ensuring that project financial information is accurate and timely. The role is integral to supporting project managers and involves various accounting duties, including revenue recognition and financial closing.
Responsibilities
- Perform AR & AP duties.
- Relay regional accounting processes to region's operation teams.
- Perform expense allocation verification, accruals, and journal entries.
- Assist in monthly revenue recognition, billing, and financial closing.
- Assist with quarterly review and annual audit.
- Provide project-specific support to project managers.
- Ensure project financial information is timely and accurate.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related field.
- 3-5 years Accounting experience in the construction or engineering industry.
- Knowledge and experience in engineering and construction accounting.
- Proficient in MS Office Products including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain client relationships.
- GAAP and SOX Compliance Experience desired.
- Familiarity with Deltek Cost Point desired.
