About the position

The Project Accounting Manager is a key role within an industry-leading construction company located in Columbus, OH. This position is responsible for overseeing a team of Project Accountants, ensuring accurate financial management of projects from inception to completion. The role emphasizes process efficiency, employee empowerment, and maintaining strong project financials, while also collaborating closely with various teams to support the company's growth.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 5 project accountants
• Team development and mentorship
• Oversee project-based accounting including forecasting and financial statements
• Ensure accurate and timely project financial reporting, revenue recognition, and billing to owners
• Prepare financial and operational reports on project health, cash flow, cost trends, and forecast risks
• Collaborate with the Controller on business forecasting
• Work closely with the operations team

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent industry experience
• 3-5 years of construction industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookup
• Prior supervisory experience in managing a team and developing employees
• Experience with ADP and process improvements/implementations is a plus
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational habits
• Self-driven to complete continuous improvement initiatives
