About the position

The Project Accounting Manager at Woodmeister Master Builders is a vital role within the finance and accounting team, responsible for supporting the company's financial and operational needs. This position focuses on providing project accounting support to ensure accurate documentation of project costs, assisting management in developing efficient cost management procedures, and fostering strong business relationships with operations counterparts. The role involves collaboration with various teams to enhance financial acumen and facilitate effective decision-making through financial analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor project progress, investigate variances, ensure expenses are approved, and manage billing and payment collection.
  • Handle numerical data to calculate profit margins and recommend cost-reduction strategies for managers.
  • Provide project managers with timely financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Work with project managers to review timesheets, plan project work, and assign new subcontractors.
  • Ensure rates are accurate and updated according to business changes.
  • Prepare and perform month-end closing procedures, including revenue recognition and entries for unbilled and deferred revenue.
  • Maintain and analyze job cost reports, including actual, committed, and projected costs.
  • Collaborate with project managers across the organization to manage and analyze project budget issues related to change orders and adjustments.
  • Work with the CFO on the annual budget process by reviewing historical activities, trends, and personnel cost allocations with various department heads.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance/management or equivalent.
  • At least 7 years of accounting experience or a combination thereof.
  • Construction accounting experience required.
  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using ComputerEase, Procore, and Innergy software is a plus.
  • Job cost analysis and reporting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly assess issues and relevant information to make effective decisions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility with a 'can do, willing to support' attitude.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal direction and be resourceful and independent in solving problems.
  • Acute attention to detail and a dedication to providing high-quality work.
  • Ability to administer and manage multiple projects with individualized requirements.
