About the position

The Project Accounting Manager/Controller at Aston Carter is responsible for overseeing daily accounting operations, which include payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations. This role involves managing an internal accounting team of three accountants, which includes senior, junior, and staff accountants. The Project Accounting Manager will maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures that comply with local and national governmental standards. In addition to daily operations, the Project Accounting Manager will prepare and manage complete financial statements, financial reports, corporate annual reports, and orderly account filing systems through analytical evaluation. The role also requires assisting the accounting team to ensure timely payroll processing and ensuring that employees can avail themselves of all reasonable discounts. The manager will oversee periodic bank reconciliations and debt payments, regulate and manage the production of budgets and forecasts, and work closely with the CFO to maintain full control over accounting transactions. Collaboration with stakeholders and the owner team is essential for making profitable decisions regarding capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations. The Project Accounting Manager will ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting. Furthermore, this position will help guide the company's strategic financial decisions and provide strategic financial planning for the company's best future.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage the internal accounting team of 3 accountants (senior, junior, and staff).
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures according to local and national governmental standards.
  • Prepare and manage complete financial statements, financial reports, and corporate annual reports.
  • Assist the accounting team to ensure timely payroll processing and facilitate employee discounts.
  • Manage periodic bank reconciliations and debt payments.
  • Regulate and manage the production of budgets and forecasts in partnership with the CFO.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and owner team in capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting.
  • Guide the company's strategic financial decisions and provide strategic financial planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in accounting.
  • Understanding of Deltek Vantage Point.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Good verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal government rules and regulations.
  • Broad knowledge of finance and deep knowledge of financial markets, banking, and economic principles.
  • Ability to work under tight schedules and deliver quality service.
  • Understanding of financial reporting and data analysis.
