About the position

Cadence McShane Construction Company is expanding its North Dallas office and is seeking a Project Accounting Manager. This pivotal role will involve leading and training a team of Project Accountants to ensure comprehensive accounting support and oversight for assigned projects and/or offices. The Project Accounting Manager will also provide general accounting and clerical support for the overall corporate accounting functions. As the primary accounting liaison, this position will work closely with project managers and other operations staff to facilitate effective project management and financial oversight. The responsibilities of the Project Accounting Manager encompass full cycle accounting and clerical support for assigned projects, which includes project and contract setup, owner billing, accounts payable, job costing, labor distribution, and project close-out. The role requires a thorough review of current processes and procedures, collaborating with the VP of Finance to enhance efficiency. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for organizing and maintaining project-related accounting files and records, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and accessible. Close coordination with project managers, project engineers, and project coordinators is essential for the successful management of assigned projects. The Project Accounting Manager will prepare and distribute monthly ad hoc job cost and project profit reports, review and process subcontractor pay applications in Textura, and monitor compliance with contract terms, change orders, lien waiver releases, and insurance requirements. Furthermore, the manager will provide support for project and corporate audits and assist in resolving any questions or issues related to assigned projects and/or offices. This role is critical in assisting management with project and accounting-related inquiries, ensuring that all financial aspects of projects are handled efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and train a team of Project Accountants.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project/job cost accounting.
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience with Textura or similar subcontract management tools like GC Pay or Procore Pay.
  • General aptitude for modern systems, processes, and technology.
  • Intermediate skills in Excel and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
