About the position

The Project Analyst, Finance & Accounting at ms consultants, inc. plays a crucial role in supporting Project Managers with the financial aspects of project budgets and contract compliance. This position involves setting up, planning, billing, and analyzing the financial performance of customer projects, ensuring effective communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle. The role offers flexibility through a hybrid work model, allowing employees to balance work and personal commitments effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize existing client systems for budgeting, financial forecasting, actual cost tracking, variance analysis, and contingency tracking.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports to support project managers as required.
  • Act as Project Administrator for initial project setup, ongoing maintenance, project planning, execution, and closeout.
  • Assist in preparing the initial project schedule including the WBS structure based on the scope of work, contract overhead, and billing requirements.
  • Support Project Managers in generating client and internal status reports that communicate costs, schedule status, and trends.
  • Coordinate with Microsoft Dynamics Planning module to maintain budgets, expenditures, and estimates to complete (ETC) values in the project database.
  • Assist PMs with project financial tracking and cost controls using Microsoft Dynamics financial management tools.
  • Help prepare project recovery plans for projects not meeting profit goals.
  • Prepare draft billing packages for review by the PM, including gathering supporting documents.
  • Monitor accounts receivable for projects and notify the project manager of outstanding invoices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Proven experience with project coordination, project delivery, or contract administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of project control and management methodologies using Microsoft Dynamics and/or Deltek Vision.
  • Familiarity with IT systems, MS Excel, MS Word, and other administrative tools.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis, including billing and revenue, costs and expenses, profitability, accounts receivable, and forecasting.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform administrative tasks alongside financial and project management tasks.
