About the position

The Medical Education and Engagement Senior Specialist at the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM) plays a crucial role in supporting the Education and Research Team (ERT). This position involves managing the medical education continuum portfolio, facilitating volunteer groups, and providing administrative support for various initiatives aimed at enhancing medical education and research. The specialist will engage with external collaborators, oversee national surveys, and contribute to the development of resources for the Academic Internal Medicine community.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and efficient operations of the team's medical education continuum portfolio.
  • Design and generate products and services based on volunteer groups' discussions and charges.
  • Serve as an administrator for assigned volunteer groups, including scheduling meetings and drafting agendas.
  • Provide administrative support for the Internal Medicine Education Advisory Board (IMEAB).
  • Liaise with other AAIM teams to arrange logistics for larger meetings and workshops.
  • Contribute to the development and management of the department budget, ensuring responsible use of funds.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget, developing detailed project timelines and tasks.
  • May supervise a function or staff, guiding and monitoring performance of contractors or staff.
  • Participate in screening and selecting candidates for hire and training new hires.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the association field and meeting planning or content development coordination.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid skills in working with committee leaders and developing materials for meetings.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and professionalism.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual platforms like Zoom and Teams.
  • Demonstrated skills in developing a variety of documents using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to apply policies and guidelines effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience collaborating with marketing and communications teams in an association environment.
  • Experience in academic medical centers or community teaching hospitals.
  • Knowledge of undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education (GME) issues.
  • Technical writing skills and experience with literature review.
