This position as a Project Application Engineer is pivotal in adapting and implementing the sales support strategy for the designated area, aligning with the global support strategy. You will lead, develop, and coach a team of Application Engineers, ensuring they deliver the most technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions to support customer processes. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting sales development in a country/region by defining and developing the Application team and application sales strategy. In this role, you will collaborate with consultant engineers, end users, and EPC customers to define electrical project needs, supply design assistance, product selection, value engineering, budgeting, and provide education on ABB solutions to gain acceptance into project specifications. You will review and evaluate project specifications and end-user customer requirements to provide electrical solutions, including one-line electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, layout and equipment drawings, equipment specifications, and project budget pricing for critical power applications. As the local product expert, you will focus on products and applications such as UPS/battery systems, power conditioning, power distribution switchgear, transfer switches, and arc flash mitigation. This position requires a strong blend of critical power systems design capability and communication skills, enabling you to convey complex concepts to a diverse audience, including engineers, account managers, contractors, and channel partners.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt and implement the sales support strategy for the designated area in line with the global support strategy.
  • Lead, develop, and coach a team of Application Engineers to deliver technically appropriate and cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with consultant engineers, end users, and EPC customers to define electrical project needs and provide design assistance.
  • Review and evaluate project specifications and end-user customer requirements to provide electrical solutions.
  • Create one-line electrical diagrams, schematic diagrams, layout and equipment drawings, and project budget pricing for critical power applications.
  • Act as the local product expert in UPS/battery systems, power conditioning, power distribution switchgear, transfer switches, and arc flash mitigation.
  • Communicate complex concepts effectively to engineers, account managers, contractors, and channel partners.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering, preferably electrical, with a minimum of six (6) years of experience in the electrical distribution industry, or a master's degree with four (4) years of experience.
  • PE certification is a plus.
  • Previous field, factory, or design engineering experience in electrical power systems at data centers, hospitals, or industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards such as ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, UL/CSA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in smart building technologies and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Familiarity with digital technologies for building automation and energy distribution.
