About the position

The Project Assistant Community & Student Programs at the Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) plays a vital role in supporting the Friday Night Live Partnership (OCFNLP) program, which engages youth in prevention activities focused on substance abuse and community concerns. This position involves assisting in the development, implementation, and coordination of programs that empower young people to take responsibility and create positive impacts in their schools and communities. The role includes providing training and technical assistance to advisors and students involved in the program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Friday Night Live programs.
  • Coordinate activities and service projects that benefit peers, schools, and communities.
  • Provide training and technical assistance to Friday Night Live advisors and students.
  • Engage young people in prevention activities on school campuses and in community organizations.
  • Support youth-led projects focused on substance abuse prevention and health promotion.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in health, education, youth development, or a related field.
  • Experience with student programs and effective implementation of programs related to youth development, leadership, resiliency, health promotion, and/or substance use prevention.
