Responsibilities

  • Assuring all engineering work performed adheres to good engineering practice.
  • Handling preliminary design studies, project planning, layouts, and other activities leading to project engineering.
  • Consulting with clients, engineers, architects, and vendors to determine practical engineering designs within budget.
  • Preparing design criteria for engineering projects and equipment.
  • Selecting suitable materials and equipment according to good engineering practices.
  • Preparing accurate estimates of planning, design work, and resources necessary for projects.
  • Writing specifications for materials and equipment clearly and concisely.
  • Anticipating information needs and taking necessary actions to obtain it.
  • Preparing detailed engineering designs in compliance with applicable codes and regulations.
  • Organizing, scheduling, and supervising the work of others efficiently.
  • Handling complex civil design and water resources projects effectively.
  • Coordinating and supervising work done under direction, including Engineer Associates, Designers, Drafters, and Technicians.
  • Coordinating work with other designers, architects, estimators, and management involved in projects.
  • Completing work on time and within budget and resource estimates.
  • Marketing Thompson Companies' services and participating in business development activities.
  • Effectively communicating with clients, regulators, public officials, team members, and the public.
  • Following company policies and procedures regarding safety and quality.
  • Maintaining regular attendance.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution, or exemption if registration exam is passed.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer.
  • A minimum of five years of engineering experience, with proficiency in Civil 3D software.
  • Demonstrated capability to perform at this level.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
