Olsson provides multidisciplinary, preliminary, and construction design services for mixed-use, commercial, and residential land development projects, along with industrial, sports, schools, and other site development types. As a Civil Project Engineer in either our Dallas or Fort Worth office, you will apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and related fields. The project engineer is a registered professional engineer, whose supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. The project engineer supervises, coordinates, and reviews work of engineers or technicians and performs complex or novel assignments that require development of new and improved techniques and procedures. In this role, you will prepare planning and design documents in the appropriate engineering discipline. You will perform process design calculations, prepare cost estimates, and use economic analyses for comparison of alternatives. Additionally, you will assist with or develop project scope of work or portions of it, assist with or develop project schedules or portions of it, and assist with the completion of initiation paperwork. You will also assist with budget reviews and schedule progress reports. Coordination is key in this position; you will coordinate projects with other Olsson teams, perform and coordinate design aspects of projects, direct team members on design tasks, and maintain project records including correspondence, drawings, and files. You will inform project managers of progress and problems, coordinate with clients, and attend client meetings. Furthermore, you may assist with marketing and business development, potentially helping to write proposals, and may serve as project manager on small projects. You will independently perform assignments on complex projects and coordinate the work of assistant and associate professional staff and technical staff, with the possibility of supervising student or technical staff.
