About the position

SCS Engineers is seeking a Project Civil Engineer to work on various civil, solid waste, and environmental projects in the Charlotte or Raleigh area of North Carolina. The role involves applying engineering principles to projects focused on landfills and solid waste management, including landfill gas and composting facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with a desire for professional growth, capable of handling both fieldwork and office-based tasks.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering and scientific principles in solid waste assignment areas.
• Complete designs using 2D and Civil 3D AutoCAD drafting and mathematical calculations.
• Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, reports, and permit applications.
• Make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods, plan and coordinate work, and represent the company at meetings and conferences.
• Perform fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions.
• Conduct office-based tasks including AutoCAD drafting, report writing, and creating site plans.
• Engage in business development activities such as proposal preparation and client meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Geotechnical Engineering required.
• Minimum of 4 years of civil engineering experience required; solid waste experience is a plus.
• E.I.T. certification required.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D design software is necessary.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
