About the position

Join GHD as a Project Civil Engineer in our Eureka, CA office, where your curiosity and determination will help shape the future of transport. In this role, you will leverage your existing skills while expanding your technical and leadership capabilities. You will have the opportunity to mentor others and be mentored by senior engineers, leading elements of technical and production work across a variety of projects including site development, water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping and storage systems, pipelines, roadways, and pedestrian facilities. Your involvement will span business development, client relationship management, planning, design, and construction of diverse projects both locally and across GHD's global network. As a Project Civil Engineer, you will be at the forefront of driving change in an ever-evolving world, where creativity and innovation are essential. You will complete studies, designs, and support construction efforts by collaborating closely with senior project engineers, project managers, and clients. Your responsibilities will include performing design calculations, conducting alternative analyses, and executing economic evaluations. You will capture and analyze data to make informed recommendations, develop infrastructure designs, and complete site development designs that encompass grading, drainage, stormwater management, piping, and surface improvements. In addition to technical work, you will lead meetings and workshops, maintain productive communication with project team members, manage project resources, and monitor scope, schedule, budget, and quality. You will interface with clients, regulators, funders, and the public, leading projects and project teams while also assisting with business development efforts. Responsibilities

  • Completing studies, designs, and supporting construction by working closely with senior project engineers, project managers, and clients
  • Performing design calculations, alternative analyses, and economic evaluations
  • Capturing and analyzing data and making recommendations
  • Developing water, wastewater system, utility, roadway and other infrastructure designs
  • Completing site development designs including grading, drainage, stormwater, piping, and surface improvements
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers, planners, and scientists
  • Leading meetings and workshops, including project progress meetings, pre-bid and pre-construction, and public meetings
  • Maintaining productive communication with project team members
  • Managing project resources and monitoring scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • Interfacing with clients, regulators, funders, and the public
  • Leading projects and project teams
  • Assisting with business development

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 8+ years of professional experience
  • Fundamentals of Engineer (FE) Certification required; California Civil Engineering (PE) preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team and independently
  • Focus on client service and quality
  • Ability to think proactively and take ownership of your work and solve problems creatively
