About the position

The Project Controller at Jacobs is responsible for the timely and accurate management of project data, including cost and schedule elements. This role involves developing, monitoring, and reporting on project budgets, supporting project managers in operational reviews, and ensuring effective change management processes are followed. The Project Controller plays a critical role in identifying potential project issues and coordinating with various corporate support groups to ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, monitor, track, analyze, forecast, and report on project budgets and expenditures.
  • Support Project Managers with monthly Operational Project Reviews (OPRs).
  • Assist Project Managers with quarterly project forecasts.
  • Involve in the development of project schedules, primarily for engineering activities.
  • Review expenditure details and initiate charge correction processes for incorrect charges.
  • Process and track sub consultant invoices on various projects.
  • Input or update activity data, logic, resource, and expenditure information.
  • Perform risk analysis on cost and schedule and recommend usage of contingency.
  • Provide support for project pricing.
  • Coordinate activities with corporate support groups including HR, accounting, legal, and procurement.
  • Ensure change management systems and processes are implemented and followed.
  • Identify potential project problems early and report issues to operations leadership.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and conduct routine cost analyses and evaluations.
  • Set up, monitor, and report earned value progress measurement systems for projects.
  • Produce various planning and scheduling reports and analyses.
  • Distribute technical and administrative reports and assemble monthly report packages.
  • Perform other project controls duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in a project controls or related function.
  • Previous experience working on buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Proficient computer skills using MS Office tools, especially Excel.
  • BS or BA in Cost Management, Engineering, Project Management, Business, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
