About the position

The Project Controller at TC Energy plays a crucial role in the USNG Growth Project Controls team, responsible for managing and controlling capital project costs. This position involves detailed financial oversight, including budget monitoring, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with project delivery requirements. The Project Controller will collaborate with various teams to track project expenses, analyze financial KPIs, and support the Project Manager in financial reporting and contract administration.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct accounting transfers to ensure proper cost placement
  • Maintain work orders through SAP/PowerPlan
  • Initiate projects using SAP/PowerPlan
  • Continuously work on requisition closeout
  • Utilize the Omega 365 PIMS platform for managing costs as well as SAP
  • Partner with Material Coordinator to ensure materials tracking is performed
  • Coordinate with Project Team to review data for commitments, schedule requirements, and risk items
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to define construction cost tracking based on purchase order terms
  • Track use of contingency, management reserve, and approved changes to project budget
  • Analyze, track, and report project financial KPIs
  • Contribute to and implement Project Delivery requirements
  • Participate in project meetings and analyze data for risk assessments
  • Resolve unexpected items or inaccuracies in forecast data
  • Support the Project Manager with financial reporting for bidding and contract administration
  • Perform Final Cost Reconciliation
  • Secure records in compliance with TC Energy's requirements
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in forecasting and cost control methodologies
  • Maintain a high level of focus on health, safety, and environment.

Requirements

  • University degree or graduation from a technical college program
  • 4 or more years of related experience
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with cost engineering principles and methods including budgeting and forecasting
  • Experience with Microsoft Desktop software, Windows, Word, Excel, and Power Point.

  • Proven supportive team member who helps oversee, lead, advise and motivate a work team
  • Knowledge and some experience with project and portfolio management processes
  • Working knowledge of version control and change management processes
  • Ability to analyze project cost data/status and communicate findings to Project Management.
