About the position

The Project Controller at DMC Mining Services is responsible for monitoring, controlling, and reporting on project progress, ensuring effective integration of cost controls, scheduling, and change management. This role interfaces with various departments across engineering, procurement, and construction, contributing to the company's commitment to safety, innovation, and excellence in underground mining services.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cost management and development of cost control systems for engineering, procurement, and construction activities.
  • Cost reporting, variance analysis, trending, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure project schedule is updated, current, and communicated to the Project Team.
  • Prepare and integrate forecasts according to project and DMC requirements.
  • Perform effective cost control, assessment, and analysis, reporting findings.
  • Follow suitable procedures and systems for project planning and scheduling.
  • Ensure accuracy in reporting of progress, productivity, and earned value.
  • Create internal status reports and external weekly/monthly reports to the Client.
  • Assess subcontractor cost submissions for management approval.
  • Review, record, and store all invoicing appropriately.
  • Monitor and action past due invoices and payments.
  • Generate project accruals for submission to the Client.
  • Ensure accurate, complete, and auditable invoices are generated and submitted to the client.
  • Manage, control, analyze, and process changes to scope, cost, and schedule on the project.
  • Promote communication of changes occurring at site and head office, scheduling change meetings appropriately.
  • Communicate potential corrective actions with the DMC Project Team.
  • Interact with engineering, procurement, and construction personnel to address issues impacting schedule and/or cost.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project controls experience including planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and estimating.
  • Experience supporting construction and mining projects.
  • Project scheduling experience.
  • Experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management projects is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Primavera P6 software.
  • Experience with cost loaded schedules and earned value progress reporting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong attention to detail.
