About the position

The Project Controls Analyst at AECOM plays a crucial role in ensuring the success of client projects by meeting financial, schedule, and performance targets. This position involves working closely with project managers and teams to analyze project performance, prepare reports, and recommend actions to keep projects on track. The role offers flexibility in work arrangements, including in-person, hybrid, or fully remote options, and requires strong organizational and communication skills to manage multiple competing demands effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the project controls function on small and large projects.
  • Review performance trends and prepare analysis and cost impact reports.
  • Prepare regular cost reports tracking actual and committed costs against budgets.
  • Update forecasts based on project progress and discussions with the project team.
  • Establish project budgets from proposal estimates and assist with project setup.
  • Coordinate with project personnel to develop effective Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Communicate budget, cost, and schedule analyses results with project managers and leaders.
  • Identify issues and develop project recovery plans when necessary.
  • Lead meetings with internal project teams and finance departments.
  • Assist project managers with procurement and subcontract agreements.
  • Monitor subcontractor spending against commitments and budgets.
  • Complete payment release paperwork and track payments to subcontractors.
  • Learn basic Federal Contract Requirements to assist project managers on federal contracts.
  • Liaise with subcontractors regarding progress and contract administration.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators such as earned value and project end dates.
  • Track unbilled, invoicing, and aged accounts receivable and report to management.
  • Maintain data quality metrics including forecast end dates and estimates to completion.
  • Review client invoices for accuracy and establish invoice schedules based on contracting terms.
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports for clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 4 years of related experience in project controls or equivalent education/experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the project work.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8+ years of relevant project controls experience in engineering or construction management.
  • Detailed knowledge of project planning and scheduling methods, practices, and earned value.
