About the position

The Spear Group is seeking both Junior and Senior Project Controls Cost Analysts to support projects in the Life Sciences/BioPharma industry. These roles will involve interfacing with various phases of project execution, focusing on the Staged Gate review process from inception to project close-out. The successful candidates will be responsible for preparing project control deliverables, ensuring effective communication with project teams, and maintaining project cost status.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare all monthly Project Control deliverables including cash flow projections and forecast tracking.
  • Interface with EPCM Project Control personnel to support project reporting requirements.
  • Prepare specific budgets, plans, schedules, forecasts, and change management documentation.
  • Assist in developing budgeting, planning, scheduling, and forecasting standards.
  • Perform performance monitoring and control functions for specific applications.
  • Prepare cost and performance/productivity reports and variance analysis.
  • Assist in developing Work Breakdown Structures as directed.
  • Perform routine data analysis and develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain continuous records of project cost status based on project team input.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effects of project changes, including trends and scope changes.
  • Alert the Project Team and Cost/Schedule Engineer of cost or schedule impacts.
  • Participate in estimating, scheduling, planning, or cost-related activities as required.
  • Suggest remedial actions to maintain project baseline estimates or schedules.
  • Assist in project close-out requirements, both financial and documentation-related.
  • Demonstrate effective time management to meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels in the organization.
  • Attend project-related meetings as required.
  • Utilize integrated cost and schedule data to communicate project status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Mid-level experience in cost control and project management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to review data and convert it to project-related knowledge.
  • Understanding of cost engineering and/or estimating.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, SAP, and industry-recognized budgeting tools.
  • Knowledge of SOX and GAAP requirements and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry across multiple product types.
  • Experience with Target Value Delivery, Last Planner®, Takt planning, Touchplan®, NetPoint®.
