About the position

Flint Hills Resources is seeking a talented Cost Engineer to drive data-driven analytics that shape competitive outcomes at their Refinery in Pine Bend, MN. This role focuses on leveraging technology and analytics to manage project health, risks, and opportunities, ensuring industry-leading results and fostering a work-life balance through a unique '9/80' work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Drive data-driven analytics to influence improved outcomes of projects and events.
• Explain the 'why and how' of data-driven recommendations to cross-functional teams.
• Provide transparency to project key bets and metrics/benchmarking performance through analytics throughout the project/event lifecycle.
• Organize, manage, and predict financial investment outcomes of projects or events.
• Assist in establishing a fit-for-purpose control structure needed to foster an in-control state.
• Manage change in Engineering & Execution.
• Drive innovations to create competitive advantage across Flint Hills Resources.
• Partner with peers to effectively share knowledge across sites.
• Adopt new technology early and help identify reimagined business processes.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Cost Analyst or Cost Engineer managing Projects or Turnarounds, or a bachelor's degree in engineering, Project Management, or Construction Management.
• Experience communicating effectively with data-driven storytelling and insights.
• Experience driving change in an organization by utilizing technology.
• Experience developing Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) structures and converting estimates to budgets.
• Experience facilitating project control meetings.
