About the position

The Project Controls Engineer III at North Wind Group plays a crucial role in assisting project managers by managing project schedules and costs, ensuring effective project execution. This position involves developing and maintaining project performance baselines, preparing cost estimates, and conducting forward-looking analyses to support project success. The engineer will also be responsible for monitoring project performance, identifying impacts, and assisting in the development of recovery plans, all while supporting the overall mission of delivering quality results safely and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Build cost and schedule performance baselines including scope, assumptions, deliverables, and integrated critical path schedule.
  • Develop schedule activities based on the scope of work.
  • Assist the project manager with determining activity sequencing and durations, and identifying milestones to support the project schedule.
  • Establish Earned Value Management System (EVMS) performance standards, controls, and reporting based on the defined project planning strategy.
  • Perform schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties.
  • Prepare schedule, staffing, and quantity progress and performance reports for assigned projects.
  • Manage assigned projects and maintain cost and schedule data, projections, reports, and other activities during project performance.
  • Support PMs in managing procurement actions (accruals, invoicing, and costing).
  • Perform a forward-looking analysis of the project and develop accurate Estimate at Completion for detailed project completion costs.
  • Prepare project projections for corporate crystal ball report used for forecasting the company's revenue, profit, and backlog for projects.
  • Seek continuous improvement and enhancements of current project management methodologies.
  • Provide non-routine cost engineering/planning and scheduling guidance to projects, ensuring work is completed as scheduled.
  • Manage, track and review change orders, ensuring these are analyzed and factored in the EAC/fee profit analysis.
  • Estimate and/or price extra work items, change orders, credit, etc.
  • Formulate effective communications and reporting requirements that define the current status of a project in relation to the project performance baseline.
  • Determine the schedule of values (SOV) for projects and interface with accounting on client invoicing.
  • Assist with a 360 Analysis on projects after completion.
  • Support estimating in development of WBS and schedule.
  • Assist with gathering and compiling data for estimates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in management, finance or related area of discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of project controls experience on engineering, environmental, and construction projects, including preparation of cost estimates and project planning.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Project Controls Engineer.
  • EcoSys experience preferred.
  • Financial background preferred.
