About the position

The Project Controls Manager at UC Davis Health is responsible for leading the Facilities Planning and Development (FP&D) team in delivering the Capital Improvement Program. This role involves developing tools for auditing, tracking, forecasting, and reporting on various projects, ensuring effective management of capital improvement initiatives ranging from $1,000 to $2 billion. The manager will oversee the Project Controls teams and consultants, ensuring successful performance and the implementation of a division-wide project controls strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and expertise in structuring operations and processes for the FP&D team.
  • Develop tools to audit, track, forecast, and report for key departments.
  • Supervise the Project Controls teams and assigned consultants.
  • Ensure successful team performance and maintain a project controls strategy.
  • Manage capital improvement planning, project development, and intake for healthcare and education purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • Management experience in project controls.
  • Proven leadership skills with complex organizations and large projects.
  • Strong communication skills with a grasp of political and organizational dynamics.
  • Expert financial skills for preparing, monitoring, and managing complex budgets.
  • Experience supervising personnel including recruitment, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of capital project cash flow projections and monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, and Windows.

Nice-to-haves

  • Background in facilities capital projects.
  • Superior skills in financial modeling and management of large-scale healthcare projects.
  • Knowledge of inpatient and outpatient healthcare facilities operations.
  • Experience in an academic healthcare setting.
