About the position

The Project Coordinator position within the Capacity Development & Source Water Protection Unit of the Public Drinking Water Branch is focused on protecting public health in Missouri by implementing the state's Capacity Development Strategy for existing public water systems. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, preparing reports, and providing guidance to ensure safe drinking water standards are met. The position emphasizes collaboration, communication, and innovative problem-solving to enhance the technical, managerial, and financial capacities of public water systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the state's Capacity Development Strategy for Existing Public Water Systems in accordance with Section 1420 of the Safe Drinking Water Act.
  • Organize Capacity Development Advisory Committee Meetings to solicit stakeholder input on future modifications of the Strategy.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with regional office team members, other government agencies, and external organizations on capacity development topics.
  • Prepare capacity development reports, including annual reports to the United States Environmental Protection Agency and triennial reports to the Missouri Governor's Office.
  • Develop requests for proposals, contracts for public water system assistance services, and financial assistance programs.
  • Coordinate with federally funded technical assistance providers regarding training and technical assistance programs for public water system staff.
  • Coordinate efforts to protect Missouri's raw drinking water sources and manage drinking water related GIS databases.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to public water systems to ensure they provide safe, high-quality drinking water.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 - 6 years of relevant experience in a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and listen to others.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and manage competing priorities.
  • Creative thinking skills to develop new insights and solutions to problems.
  • Flexibility to adjust work methods in response to new information or unexpected obstacles.

Nice-to-haves
